Throughout the year, Forest Hills responds to numerous disasters across our state, country, and world. Because no two disasters are the same, our response to these events looks different depending on location, needs, etc. In years past, we’ve collected money to purchase chainsaws, water pumps, and other needed equipment to assist partner organizations in conducting relief and recovery efforts. Other times, we’ve collected diapers, food, and other essential goods to support individuals and families who have been displaced by disasters. When possible, we also send teams of volunteers to assist with hands-on relief and recovery efforts as well. Here’s what we’re currently working on:
Hurricane Dorian Disaster Relief
In NC, we’re preparing to assist Baptists on Mission with recovery efforts along and in the Outer Banks, which suffered devastating flooding and winds when Dorian moved through the area in early September. We’ve got a trip planned for Sept. 26-28 (Thurs-Fri). If you’d like to participate, please contact Tyler Ward (firstname.lastname@example.org) or sign-up on VOMO by Tues, 9/18.
In the Bahamas, we’re in communication with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship about possible equipment and supply donations to assist communities destroyed by Dorian. We’re still awaiting more information but will post an update on this page shortly - stay tuned!
