Two Out of Three Isn’t Good Enough
As the Pastor Search Committee starts its work in coming weeks, I want to give you, the church at large, a critically important assignment.  It’s so important that it’s going to take me the next three newsletters just to make the assignment – and that’s just the assignment.  The task goes on and on.  This week the first of three parts of the assignment is below – Remember!  Doing two out of the three isn’t good enough.  All three are critical.–
“What is my first assignment?”
Pray for the Pastor Search Committee!
•  At every opportunity
•  Daily
•  By name
“How/What should I pray for them?”
•  That they will be sensitive to God’s Holy Spirit
•  That they will move forward in the search depending on God’s wisdom, not their own •  That they will grow spiritually and relationally through the process
•  That they will be safe in any travels during their search
•  That the search will be invigorating not exhausting
•  That they will be patient and accept God’s timing
•  That they will experience God’s blessings for their willingness to serve
•  That they will be able to balance job, family, and other responsibilities with this awesome responsibility
•  That they will reach a consensus on the one whom they believe the Lord has prepared as the next Senior Pastor of FHBC
•  That they will____________________
You fill in the blank above and as many more as you can add.  Then do it!  This is your privilege AND your responsibility as a member of this fellowship of faith.  But remember!  This is only the first of three assignments.  More next week. – Layne

Valentine Cookie Project
Volunteers are needed to bake 3 dozen cookies (no nuts & no peanut butter) and to deliver them to shut-ins and persons with special needs in our church family, as well as in the community. Cookies should be at the church dining hall by 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5. They will be packaged and ready for delivery by noon that same day. Sponsored by the Kaleidoscope Group of Women on Missions. Contact Geneva Humphries at  919-851-1249 for more information.

FHBC & Habitat for Humanity
Forest Hills will be partnering with Habitat for Humanity on Saturday,  January 26th.  The job site is located at 1510 Ikes Pond Lane, Raleigh.  From 8:30AM till 4:00PM we will be doing interior painting and various light construction projects.  For questions or to sign up to volunteer, email Habitat@ForestHills.org or call Kevin Bellamy at 919-971-2306.

RA Happenings
Two dates that all RAs need to reserve on their calendars:
•  Saturday, January 26 -- Volunteering at the NC Food Bank  1:30-4:00
•  Friday, March 8 -- RA Derby in the attic
We'll be sharing more information on both of these during RAs on Wednesday nights.  All boys grades 1-6 are encouraged to join in the fun as we study missions and how we are ambassadors for Christ.  If you have any questions, contact Bill Gentry (wdgentry@bellsouth.net) or Dan Clinton (dan_clinton@hotmail.com).

Thank You
To our FHBC Family,
We really appreciate your sympathy, love, prayers, cards, telephone calls and  flowers, during our recent bereavement. We praise our God that we are a part of FHBC Family. May He bless us all.

Dia Malosa  Blaise  BWENSA,

The IST Wants to Offer a Big THANK YOU
Put February 24 on your calendar!  The IST is making plans to prepare a lunch for you following the morning worship services to say “thank you” for your participation and involvement in the interim process.  Additionally, they will offer a brief, final report of their work.

An Appropriate Note from the Forest Hills Church Media Library
This seems to be a good time to recognize volunteers from among the membership of Forest Hills who have served modestly and largely unheralded, some for over twenty years, to insure that the Forest Hills CML exists as a valuable resource. To the following volunteers (and others not here recognized), heartfelt thanks: Sean Hite, Barbara Howard, Jane Stokes, Sharon Clifton, Luke Harris, Lyla Kloos, Jean Blackley, Dora Cornwell, Kitty Mitchell, Jerry Hester, Barbara Duncan, Laura Graham, Dixie Porter, Liz Phelps, Mattie Smith, Grace Smith, Anne Porter, Amanda Wheless, Edith Clark, Carmen Sasser, Helen Bunton, Betsy Dunnagan, Jack Porter, Ruth Schultz, Eileen Brinkley, Sue Tucker, Charles Averre, Ron Brown, Aileen Taylor.

Children’s Leadership Team
The Children's Leadership Team is taking a fresh look at all the elements of our ministry.  As a part of that evaluation, we've decided that there will not be a Winter Bible School in February this year, as in year's past.  Instead, we are considering a Family Missions Day to take place in the next few months.  Stay tuned for more information.

International Ministry
International Ministry plans an ice skating event on Saturday January 26th.  For many of our students it will certainly be a first adventure on the ice. We will be joining with the BSU. Please pray for us.

One of the best things we have been doing in Wednesday ESL is Tea Time. As you know, the world drinks tea, and relationships are often formed and friendships continued over a cup of tea.  Asad Hashemi prepares our tea and makes this time really valuable for all of us.  So, God really uses that 15 minute break between classes in a marvelous way.
