Christmas Eve Photos
For brief times before and after the Christmas Eve service, photographers will be on hand to take family photos. We hope to accommodate as many families as possible, but it will be necessary to adhere to the times set below:
From 4:50PM - 5:10PM and from 6:30PM - 7:00PM, photographers will be in four designated areas:
· By the piano
· By the Christmas Tree
· At the stairs leading to the balcony (Narthex)
· In the Gathering Place
If you wish to have your photograph taken, please have all of your family together and take a number at your preferred set.
Photographs will be taken on a first come, first served basis; and photographers will begin and end promptly at the times stated above.
Following Jesus in a Facebook World
Each year there are new trends that impact who we are and how we live. From what's fashionable to the kind of food we eat to what we do for fun, cultural and societal trends change us and shape us year over year and decade over decade!
There are even bigger trends that are longer lasting and that impact us in more significant ways. For example, in December 2003 the average price of gas was $1.49 per gallon. What about today? In the 1950's the average price for a cup of coffee was 10 cents! In 2011 the average cost of a cup of coffee was $1.38. Have you been to Starbucks lately? The average lifespan of a person born in 1980 is 70 years, but the average lifespan of a person born in 2010 is 81!
What about church? How do trends in our society and culture impact our church? How do they impact us as believers? How do we follow Jesus faithfully and share the message of Christ with others in a world that is becoming more and more secularized and pluralistic?
Dr. Westbrook will offer a series on Wednesday nights (6-7pm) beginning in January entitled Following Jesus in a Facebook World. The goal of this series is to create opportunities for meaningful dialogue across generations within our church family about what it means to be and do church in the 21st century. This is a church-wide opportunity and adults of all ages are encouraged to participate!

Notice to Deacons
All members of Forest Hills Baptist Church who have been ordained as deacons, but are not presently active deacons, are asked to notify Church Clerk Wilson Laney by either calling him (919-833-4514) or sending an email to him email@example.com. Wilson and Parker Flowers need the information. Thank you.
Formation of Worship Strategy Team
In October, the Leadership Team announced that FHBC would offer a single worship service beginning Oct. 13. During this time, a revisioning process for the Contemporary Service would be undertaken with a target date of February 1st as a date by which to return with a plan or to restart the Contemporary Service. Dr. Westbrook has met with several church lay leaders over the last month and it has become evident that there is a need for a complete evaluation of all worship at FHBC. Therefore, a Worship Strategy Team (WST) has been formed to evaluate and develop a comprehensive worship strategy for FHBC. The WST is currently meeting and has been charged with presenting its recommendations to the Seek Council and Diaconate by March 15, 2014. The WST will provide regular updates on their progress and work with the staff to setup several opportunities for education about worship, congregational input and discussion. In the interim, FHBC will offer a contemporary service at 11:00 am one Sunday each month.
Worship Strategy Team Members: Julie Boyles, Stephen Edwards, Elizabeth Murray, Frances Overby, Henry Su, Donnie Wiltshire, Neil Westbrook, Senior Pastor, Joy Phillips, Seek Council Chair
Please keep these team members and their work in your prayers as they seek God's guidance for worship at FHBC.
Welcome to Mark, Sara, and Eli Williams!
The Missionary Residence Team is excited to announce that Mark, Sara, and Eli Williams are the newest occupants of the FHBC missionary residence! Mark and Sara are members of Forest Hills who responded to God's call to the mission field. In 2010, they were commissioned as self-funded Cooperative Baptist Fellowship field personnel and have been serving in Emmaus, South Africa, and vicinity for the last three years. The Williams family will live in the missionary house through the end of June 2014.
Mark earned a Master of Divinity degree from Campbell University and plans to do additional study there while on off-field assignment in Raleigh. Sara has a Master of Social Work degree from East Carolina University and will take online courses from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond to complete her Master of Divinity degree while in Raleigh. Also, Mark and Sara plan to speak in churches and with mission groups. In addition, they will be praying and discerning God's will for the next steps of their ministry.
As if studying, speaking, and praying weren't enough to keep them busy, these young parents will help two-year-old Eli learn about life in America and about the role of a big brother. Sara is due to deliver the second Williams baby at the end of March or early April 2014. To our knowledge, this baby will be the first one born while the parents were living in our missionary house!
Eli and his parents will be visiting both sets of grandparents as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins during the Christmas holidays. Forest Hills members Susan and Terry Wray and daughters fall into that group, as Susan is Sara's sister. Consequently, we may not see much of the Williams family until the new year arrives. Whenever you see them, however, give them a warm hello!
Spotlight on Africa
God is touching lives in Africa, and He is graciously using Forest Hills folks as part of his plan. In three different countries, South Africa, The Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Niger, Forest Hills is connecting with missionaries on the field. Wednesday night, Dec. 11, was a great evening of celebration as we enjoyed an authentic African meal, moved to the music from the African Praise Band, and heard testimonies from Terry Wray, Ngoma Masiala and John Pambu, and Cameron Liner. What a privilege it was for all who were there.
Inclement Weather Policy
In the event of inclement weather, Forest Hills Baptist Church follows Wake County Public Schools policy. Please check your local news stations for updates and announcements regarding school delays or closings.

Please remember our students in your prayers as they are home for their breaks!
