The Gathering Place
The Gathering Place project is a statement of faith by members of all ages in the future of our great church. The planning team has worked hard in the planning process, so that this wonderful new space can be ready for fall programming. To date 81 cards have been returned pledging almost $238,000. Our goal is $350,000. Please pray about your investment in the future of Forest Hills and return your pledge card by May 26 to Wendy Garrett in the church office. As noted elsewhere, there will be a listening session at 7:00 PM on May 28 and a called church conference to decide how to proceed on June 2. Called Church Conference
The Gathering Place team has requested a Special Called Church Conference to present motions to the church concerning the overall design and cost of The Gathering Place as well as a financial/funding recommendation. The conference will be held in the Dining Hall on June 2nd immediately following the 11:00 service. As this is a single item conference there will not be food / refreshments or child care provided.
LLIT Handouts Available Online
The Lay Leadership Implementation Team (LLIT) hopes everyone at FHBC has had the opportunity to hear an update about the team's efforts to develop a new lay leadership organizational structure, in accordance with the IST motion approved by the church congregation in a vote last November. The team is seeking to develop a structure that will empower our congregation and its leaders to boldly and effectively carry out ministries both inside and outside of the FHBC community of faith.
On May 5 and 12, LLIT team members visited Sunday School departments and classes to provide handouts that summarize the top changes between existing and proposed
organizational structures along with schematic diagrams showing the differences. Team members were also present in the 5-points area on May 12 to meet with anyone stopping by for more information and to ask questions. And a presentation was made to the
congregation this past Sunday (May 19) at the church conference.

Parents, we need you to turn in "Website Photo Release" forms for your kids! We are working to update the website and create brochures about our summer activities, but we can't include great group pictures like the one below if we don't have your permission. (I will be starting a quarterly Children's Ministry newsletter so I can share more pictures and news with you, so be on the look-out for that in your inboxes!)

College Summer Sunday School
COLLEGE STUDENTS - Beginning Sunday, June 2, College Sunday School will not be at 9:30AM at FHBC. Instead, students will have Bible study over lunch, following the 11:00A worship. Contemporary Worship Service
Contemporary Worship Service will continue to be held at 10:45 in the Fellowship Hall. The Worship and Proclamation Council recommended to the Leadership Team to continue holding the Contemporary service at the new time and location based upon results from their evaluation. These results were presented to the Leadership Team and the recommendation to continue was approved.
Interim Music Minister Search Team Update
The Worship and Proclamation Council are working with a few deacons to identify a candidate to serve as interim senior pastor from July 2013 until our next senior pastor is called.

News from International Ministry
WOW! Beach Retreat for International Ministries went very well. Watching families experience sheer joy is an upper for anyone. We felt the presence of God. One of our Bible Verse Chants was the Love verses in 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7. We discussed what it meant when we read, love does not keep a record of wrongs. A man walked up later and said he didn't know that. He was visibly moved and so were many others. We watched couples come together all weekend. Our lady from Armenia was so thankful and so happy, she just danced as she walked. She never stopped praising God. I strongly know it was a God filled weekend.
I also want to thank all the workers, van drivers who made this happen: Asad, Pat, Phyllis, Liz, John, Jean Felix, Jason, Gwen and Karen. If I forgot someone it was and is certainly inadvertent.
Also, our graduation dinner and celebration during prayer meeting on May 15th went really well. Our students really enjoyed reading James Weldon John's The Creation for everyone. They have certainly learned some good oral English. Many would never have walked inside the building or gone to any church, but here they found acceptance and help.
On a personal note, I am taking an unpaid leave of absence beginning on May 24 and returning for Sunday service on July 7. Keep me in your prayers as I rest, write, and teach the ESL Dallas Conference June 28-29. Our International Ministry team is well equipped to help out while I am gone.

Ladies, you are invited to the 125th birthday party for WMU on June 4, at 11:30 a.m. in the dining hall. Lunch will be provided at $5. Come help us celebrate 125 years of missions with WMU! Please bring any Sunbeam, Mission Friend, GA, YWA or Acteen memorabilia you or your children may have, esp. from Recognition Services. Bring migrant hygiene kits and personal items for human trafficking victims.

Your generosity in donating items to Children's Essentials in the past has enabled our team to respond to the 2013 referrals. Children's Essentials needs your help to replenish the following:

· Newborn girl clothing (Size 0-3 mos.) - new or gently used - sleeping sacs, short and long sleeve onesies
· Baby towels
Boxes labeled "Children's Essentials Donations" will be placed at Five Points for the next two Sunday's to receive your donations. Our sincere thanks for making this ministry possible.

Look What We Are Cooking Up for Fall 2013
The Hospitality team is planning the Wed night meals for the Fall. We are looking for 4 teams of 4 people each. Each team will be responsible for preparing the Wed night meals for one month. Meal planner, menu and tips will be provided.
