Fresh Expressions Coming to FHBC
Several months ago two vanloads of FHBC members attended a Fresh Expressions Vision Day in Greensboro. This is a program that started in England and is designed to reach out to non-Christians and young people in a very different way. We were impressed with the program and shocked by some of the information about the numbers of young people involved in traditional church. Fresh Expressions highlighted that churches have to reach out to young people in a different way and meet people where they are outside the walls. This program is sponsored by North Carolina CBF, National CBF, and the Virginia Baptist Association. Our own Ka'thy Chappell is the coordinator in North Carolina. We volunteered to host the next Vision Day at Forest Hills on August 16th (Friday). Kath'y has offered a small meeting with the leaders and the Forest Hills team on the evening of the 15th. The normal registration is thirty dollars for lunch, snacks, and material but since we are hosting, Forest Hills members can attend for $10.00. NOTE: Use the following code to get the $10.00 rate for the day: "HOST" Since this event in August is happening on our campus, we need volunteers to help welcome and host those who will be attending. Contact George Ake if you are willing to help. The one in Greensboro filled up quickly. Register today so that you won't miss this wonderful and challenging opportunity! For more information:

Children's Essentials Ministry Needs Your Help
Thus far in 2013, the Children's Essentials ministry has received referrals for immediate/emergency assistance for children from newborns up to age 5 at three times the rate as in 2012. Year-to-date, our team has assisted 22 children in 12 families by providing a wide range of items including: 7 cribs (plus a mattress, sheets and a mattress pad), a chest of drawers, 2 strollers, 13 packages of diapers, approximately 200 items of clothing, and various other basic supplies. In addition, each family we have served has received a child's Read to Me Bible.
Your generosity in donating items to Children's Essentials in the past has enabled our team to respond to the 2013 referrals. Children's Essentials needs your help to replenish the following:
· Size 1 diapers
· Newborn girl clothing (Size 0-3 mos.) - new or gently used - sleeping sacs, short and long sleeve onesies
· Baby towels
Boxes labeled "Children's Essentials Donations" will be placed at Five Points for the next two Sunday's to receive your donations. Our sincere thanks for making this ministry possible.
Special Request: We have a family in need of a multi-baby stroller. If you have one to donate, please contact Sandra Haskins or any member of the Children's Essentials Team - Kimberly Elks, Meredith Parker, Frances Stroup, Dora Cornwell, Kathy Wallace or Candace Vick.

As the danger escalates, Parker begins to question her dreams, her future, and even her faith. Does stardom even matter anymore?
Shadow in Serenity
Carny Sullivan grew up in the zany world of a traveling carnival. Quaint and peaceful Serenity, Texas, has given her a home, a life, and a child. Logan Brisco is the smoothest, slickest, handsomest man Serenity, Texas has ever seen. But Carny Sullivan knows a con artist when she sees one-and she's seen plenty, starting with her father. As far as Carny Sullivan can tell, she's the only one in town who has his number. Because from his Italian shoes to his movie-actor smile, Logan has the rest of the town snowed.
When Krista Carmichael's sister is killed by an online predator, she turns herself into "bait" to flush out the murderer. Ryan Adkins never expected his billion-dollar GrapeVyne social network to become a stalking ground, so he joins forces with Krista to bring the killer to justice. But who will protect them when the tables turn?
You may find these novels (Double Minds, Shadow in Serenity, and Predator) in your Media Library at the corner.
