Young at Art Camp
What a wonderful weekend of Art Camp! Jerry Hester led a team of talented and servant-hearted artists and cooks to bring Young at Art Camp to our children. We had children join us from other cities and even other states! Billie Freeman led a devoted team of cooks and decorators to bring us 4 themed meals and countless yummy snacks. Each day Julia Bauman led a Bible Story on the Gospel, out of which all creation and art and life flow, and it was beautiful watch the children experience the stories. We look forward to next year's camp!

Children's Ministry Teachers Needed
Children are gifts from God entrusted to us to protect and raise in the love of Christ. Please pray about this opportunity to teach or assist in the preschool or children's ministries. We will provide training and ask for a minimum commitment of 3 months.
We have openings in preschool and elementary Sunday School Classes, Wednesday night G.A.'s ("Girls in Action" missions group), and Wednesday night music. See Julia Bauman with questions or to request a volunteer application and background check form.
"But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus."
2 Timothy 3:14-15

Chinese Baptist Church--Position Open

Congo Mission Trip-July 5-22
We would like to express our deep gratitude to Forest Hills and all our friends who supported us through prayers and
financial support during our Mission Trip to the Democratic
Republic of Congo, especially in Kinshasa. With the sponsorship of Forest Hills, the team was able to accomplish the goals planned for this year.
The Poultry Project
The 220 chicks we bought are all doing fine. No mortality rate to report. In the next few weeks, they will start laying eggs.
Due to the electricity problem in Kinshasa, we bought a generator and an incubator as we expect them soon to lay eggs.
We believe this project will help many to have eggs and chicks to raise in their backyards. John Pambu will give us more information regarding this project.
Health Awareness (Free Screening)
This year with a nurse in the team, we set up a health fair with the goal to screen the needy people about their blood pressure and high or low blood sugar and educate them with a brochure. Numerous under-served people in the community praised God for the benevolent effort.
Many find for the first time that they have high blood pressure and some were found to be diabetics.
We look forward to giving you a full report about the trip. Again Thank you and God bless you all.
As part of our focus on Spiritual Gifts, many of our Sunday School classes will be spending time over the next few weeks studying what scripture tells us about how we are to use these gifts, our own and those of others. In preparation for this Sunday, the LLIT encourages everyone to read 1 Corinthians 12-14 and begin to prayerfully consider the Spiritual Gifts of our church community.
FHBC Stewardship Emphasis for 2013- Stewards of the Christian Life
On Sunday, August 25, we will begin a five-week series, designed for us to grow and mature in our faith, by embracing a broader view of Christian Stewardship.
Each week we will focus on one life area, in worship and on Wednesday evening. The five life areas of Christian Stewardship are:
Spiritual Gifts Week of August 25-31
Creation Week of September 1-7
Mind & Body Week of September 8-14
Financial Assets Week of September 15-21
Time & Talents Week of September 22-28
The series will culminate on Sunday, September 29, ConsecrationSunday. Please make plans to attend each session.
Pastor Search Committee Update
As you know, we've been hard at work since February with the task you set before us of searching for the Senior Pastor that God wants for Forest Hills. In that process we've reviewed close to 200 resumes and followed up with numerous candidates. While we are not finished and don't have a name to bring before you at this time, we're pleased to announce that we're making great progress and believe God is leading us to a particular person.
We're also very aware of the trust you've placed in us and the heavy responsibility that carries. Thank you for your patience, prayers, encouraging words to us individually and collectively and faith in God's guidance and in us throughout this process. Frankly, without that, we don't think this process could be successful.
As we continue this important task to conclusion and get closer to recommending your calling of a new Senior Pastor, we ask for your continued prayers. We ask that you not only continue to pray for our committee and task, but also continue praying for the person God is calling to be our next Senior Pastor. Additionally, we would now ask you to pray specifically for us and yourselves as a church family to be open, accepting, supportive, loving, and willing to work together with the person Forest Hills calls as our new Senior Pastor, to the glory of God for the work of His kingdom. We are excited about the great things God has planned for Forest Hills and hope that each of you find yourself just as excited as we anticipate what the future holds for our church.
Coffee and Crafts Group
Fall 2013 Starting August 7th
Join our adult crafting group Wednesdays

Each crafter pays their way, for some projects we pay the project leader and for some we receive a supplies list to purchase before the project starts. The first Wednesday of each month is BYOC (Bring Your Own Craft) night.
Bring something you're working on and fellowship while making progress on it.
We had a fabulous time last year and hope you will join us this Fall. We have a calendar so you can plan ahead and even pick and choose which projects you'd like to do. It is a fun hour of fellowship, laughter and creating. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor, go down the hallway on the left and you'll hear find us.
