Letter to FHBC
Dear Forest Hills Family and Friends,
There is a lot of excitement in the Westbrook household these days! Cleaning, purging
and packing...Oh my! To say that we are excited about starting a new journey at
Forest Hills may be the understatement of the year.
I will plan to be in the office on Wednesday, October 9 and my first Sunday will
be October 13. I look forward to connecting with everyone again and making new
connections as well. Once I am officially there I would like to spend as much time
as possible putting names with faces. Please drop by and say hello if you have a
In the meantime, you can contact me by email for all things church related. I can
be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org. I would also like to connect with those of you
who use social media. I am on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. (I prefer to use these
accounts for personal notes and encouragement.)
One last thing...
I would like to ask for your prayers during this time of transition. Please pray
for the leaders and staff at Forest Hills, for Whitney, Parker and Hadley, and
also for all of the little details and unexpected hiccups that will undoubtedly
occur over the next few months.
See you soon!

An Invitation from the African Church
We invite everyone to theAfrican 27th Church Anniversary which will feature a lot
of songs of praise and adoration to our Heavenly Father on September 22, 2013 at
3:00 PM in the Chapel. A reception will follow immediately in the Dining Hall.
International Ministry stays busy building relationships and having events. Our
Sept. 14th picnic at the beautiful Apex park was a hit. We met with groups from
other language churches
within the Raleigh Baptist Association. Asad cooked for over 180 people, others
brought dishes, and we all ate! It was a time of ice breakers, singing, and fellowship.
Our next event is our Fall Retreat on Oct. 11-13 at the Blue RidgeConference Center
in Boone. Registration begins very soon.
In our ESL/Bible classes this week, we registered 8 new students. It is so exciting
to find people come to this church who are seeking to learn to speak English better
and are willing to learn about Jesus and the scriptures. In regular Sunday School,
the teacher can assume that the group has Bible knowledge to some degree. Yet, we
can assume nothing as we teach. Not only do we teach hard vocabulary words likeblasphemy,
we also teach about the teachers of the law who followed Jesus as he healed. With
nobackground, that is a hard lesson, but God does not let his word return void.
We believe that.
At the end of September, we will send a visiting scholar from Japan back to his
homeland. He and his wife came to the USA and NCSU already Christians, and they
have learned many things. Perhaps, just perhaps, his wife will begin an ESL/Bible
class when she returns. We sow seeds many weeks. God makes them grow.
We are registering people from Brazil, China, and other countries. You are a part
of all this.Thank you FHBC for supporting this ministry.

September is State Missions Month
Christ compels us to proclaim release, relief and redemption. More than half of
the NC Mission Offering supports 14 NC Baptist Men's ministries, including disaster
relief, mission camps, dental ministry and mobilization of many volunteers. A portion
of our Forest Hills gifts to the Great Commission Offering enables NC Baptists to
join hands and represent Christ to thousands of needy people.
We as Christians need to be prepared for disasters in order to help others. Visit

the next disaster so you will be ready to assist others in distress. There are
many volunteer opportunities. Contact Baptists on Mission , NC Baptist Men
