Faith and Life Tracks
Beginning on September 3, spend your Wednesday nights with us as we discover new ways to deepen our faith together. A variety of classes and groups will be available for all age groups, so take your pick! These are the classes being offered this Fall:
Financial Peace University
Forest Hills will be hosting a course in Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University. Topics include: super saving, dumping debt, insurance, investments, retirement, and more. Click HERE for more information. This class will begin on September 17.
Through biblical teaching and real-life application, this study teaches that believers do not have to live in weakness. God is stronger than every struggle you will ever face. Facilitated by Whitney Goulding, this women's Bible study lasts 7 weeks; cost is $14.
Just Walk Across the Room
Just a few steps and a friendly hello may be all it takes to change someone's life - and their eternity! And the good news is, it has more to do with taking a genuine interest in another person and listening to their story than it does with learning evangelism tactics and techniques. Led by Neil Westbrook, this study lasts 7 weeks.
Would you like to learn to paint or create other art forms? Arty Party encourages participants to create original works of art in a fun environment! All levels of experience are welcome, and instruction is provided. Led by Jerry Hester, this class meets in the Shepherd Studio (Hood House) from 6:00-8:30 p.m.
Out and About
Looking to get out and about on Wednesday nights? Bring your walking shoes, strollers, and some friends as we get moving and check out some of the neat sights in our Forest Hills neighborhood that are within walking distance from the church. Walking, talking, and more! Led by Tyler Ward, this class lasts 7 weeks.

If you have a design or administrative project that needs to be completed for your ministry or group, please use one of these forms. Hard copies are available in the Church Office, and the form can also be found HERE. These forms must be submitted IN PERSON so that they can be approved by a member of the church staff.
Dear Forest Hills Family,
We are thankful that Don Hayden has served as the Facilities Director here at Forest Hills Baptist Church for nearly eight years. Don's wife has received a job opportunity that will relocate them to Florida, and for this reason Don has resigned, effective Friday, August 29. Please take the opportunity to thank Don for his service and wish him well as he and his family relocate to Florida. Additionally, the Personnel Committee and the Property Management Committee are currently evaluating this position to determine how best to move forward. More information will be available soon.

Update from WIT on Dining Hall Renovations
Exciting things are happening in the Dining Hall, and renovations will begin soon:
-Contract signed with Boone Audio
-Equipment is being ordered
-Dining Hall to be cleaned and painted mid-August
Have you seen the downstairs hallway recently? If not, take a few minutes to see the wonderful work that several of our church members did the first week in August.
There are more opportunities to serve as part of this project. Are you good at cleaning? A clean-up day is planned for Saturday, August 16, in preparation for the painting of the Dining Hall. We plan to get started at 9:00 a.m. and finish by noon. Cleaning supplies will be provided.

Pardon Our Mess...
...But big improvements are underway in our preschool hallway over the next two weeks! This is one of the many renovation projects taking place here at Forest Hills to make our space more inviting and functional. Be sure to stop by and check out these improvements when they are completed!

Summer Lunch Bunch Announcement
There will be no Summer Lunch Bunch meetings for the rest of the summer. These lunches have been a wonderful addition to our summer calendar, so stay tuned for more information about when they will return!
Breaking Bread - Round 3!
Breaking Bread is an exciting small group opportunity where 7-8 adults meet in dinner groups that last for 4 months at a time. More information and the online registration survey are available at www.foresthills.org/breakingbread. You can also fill out a hard copy that may be found and returned to the desk in the Gathering Place. For variety, you might even consider signing up for a different group category this time around!

Promotion Sunday: August 24th
A new school year is here, and it's time to move up to a new Sunday School class! Be sure to attend Sunday School on August 24th at 9:30 a.m. to find your new class, meet your teacher, and learn about God's love!
As the summer rapidly winds down, we find ourselves once again preparing for the start of a new school year. As we do so, we find ourselves in a moment of need for our children's ministries who are in need of called and committed volunteers. We all understand the importance of communicating the nature and love of God to our children, but to do so we need to identify, educate, and empower called individuals to care for our children!
Our opportunities for involvement span Sunday and Wednesday events. Currently, the Children's Ministry Team is in need of called volunteers and leaders for the following ministries:
Sunday School Teachers (August - January)
K-2: One Teacher
5: Three Teachers
Adventure Room Drop Off Volunteers
Childcare Workers for Babies/Toddlers/Choir
Our Children's Sunday School will be transitioning to a new model beginning February 1, so for those looking to make only a short-term commitment, committing for August-January would be a huge help as leaders begin the work of transitioning to the new model.
If you feel God calling you, or know of other called individuals, to assist with any of these ministries, please let the Children's Ministry Team know. Feel free to contact Susan Wray or Susan Gentry to volunteer or request more information.
6th Graders Transition to Youth Group
This transition will begin on Sunday, August 17. On this Sunday, both the rising 6th and 7th graders will join the youth for Sunday School. Rising 6th graders will be in one class, and a separate class will include the 7th and 8th graders. On Sunday evening, September 7, a kick-off event will be held for all youth and parents, where the upcoming calendar of events will be discussed. Following that, the 6th graders will join the youth programs on Wednesday evenings and Sunday evenings.

Rush Week Is Coming Up!
From August 24-30, our church will host an engaging series of events meant to welcome both new and returning college students! We need volunteers for all of these activities to be successful. Check out what is needed for each event below, and contact Tyler Ward to volunteer you or your Sunday School class!
August 24 - Fall Feed (NEED: sides/desserts/drinks for lunch following worship. Volunteers needed to help prep, serve, and clean up)
August 26 - Tailgate Dinner (NEED: main dishes/sides/desserts/drinks for dinner as well as fun tailgate games and volunteers to help serve)
August 28 - Death by Chocolate Mixer & Church Fair (NEED: Desserts and treats, ministry teams to be available to share about their ministries to interested students)
August 30 - Discover Raleigh (NEED: Van drivers who can help shuttle students around Raleigh as we show them all that Raleigh has to offer!)
International Ministry Update
This week, 1,100 new international students will move to Raleigh and start classes and research. Please pray for these scholars as they adjust to a new life in the U.S.A. Pray also for the International Ministry and the ESL Team as people train, greet, and serve our new neighbors through teaching Conversational English on Sundays and Wednesdays.
May the pleasing and sanctifying aroma of Christ fill all of the relationships that are begun over the next few weeks. Our Wednesday Night Conversational English classes begin on August 20, followed by a fun field trip to the NC Flea Market on Saturday August 23. To God be the glory for what He will do this year! Is God calling you to take part in this ministry?
Volunteers Needed: Professional Business English
The Fall Semester is right around the corner, and soon a Team from the International Ministry will be meeting new International Scholars at NCSU!
Are you a business woman or man? Do you ever notice the nuances of vocabulary, tone, and delivery of the English you speak every day? Many Internationals are eager to practice Professional Business English in conversation. This is an open door to build relationships and share the love of Christ through meeting a need with a specialized skill YOU have!
We have developed a curriculum and are looking for a business person to co-teach this class Wednesdays from 6pm-7:45pm through the school year. Please pray as the ESL Team is searching to meet this need. If you are interested in assisting with this ministry opportunity, contact Jason Payne.
Local Missions Opportunity
A local missions opportunity has come to us where we can help our neighbors only 2.3 miles away. The Palms Apartments are scheduled for demolition and re-development at the end of this year, and the largely immigrant community living there needs help relocating, transferring children to new schools, and prayer.
Please contact Jason as soon as possible to help lead this international ministry opportunity and reach out to the neighbors in our own backyard!
What a blessed gift of the concert last week from the Christian Children Mountain Home and the Taiwanese Aborigine kids!
A few words from Rev. Dr. Jane Pan:
"Thank you for your prayers and service to the Lord. Thursday's concert was unforgettable, a true blessing for all of us! Around 4pm someone came to me and said, "Are you sure we will have our sanctuary filled?" There were also some last minute needs, Jason, I and our prayer partners held on to the work of the Lord and prayed. The sanctuary started filling up at 7pm, and was full capacity with overflow to the gathering place by 7:30pm! It was a Spirit filled concert with powerful testimonies. The Lord taught us with the unity of Spirit and cooperation of all four congregations. God made this a truly one of a kind, successful concert. Many (100+) in the audience rededicated their lives to the Lord. Some of our helpers who assisted with the CD sale and offering at the Gathering Place said it was a sellout. We praise the Lord.God is so good!"

A Note of Thanks
Dear Forest Hills Church Family,
When speaking from the heart, I find that words fall woefully short to fully express its fullness. Still - as inadequate as they may be, I offer heartfelt words of gratitude and thanksgiving for the outpouring of love shown to me upon my leaving Forest Hills. The extraordinary lunch celebration on June 30, coupled with the generous love offering, blessed me and my family - and encouraged me greatly in my call to ministry. From the glorious pink roses in my honor, to the magnificent caricature, to the dear friends who recounted the stories of ministries we've shared over the decades, my heart and soul were blessed beyond measure. May God order our steps in the days ahead, and may we covenant to pray for one another along the way.
