Men's Ministry Interest Meeting
Calling all men! Join us for a men's ministry meeting on Wednesday, January 6, at 7:30 pm in the fellowship hall. We'll discuss the possibility of another summer Bible study series, new fellowship events, and new ministry opportunities.
As you gather together with family this Christmas, you may want to begin conversations and planning so that you can share all of life with the people you treasure. The Silver Compassion team is offering you time to meet with Dr. George Fuller, one-on-one and free of charge, to look at your plans or to discuss issues of thriving in the second half of life. There are 10 places available, each offering up to 3 hours with Dr. Fuller. If you would like an appointment, contact Rogers & Sue Farr or Andrew Garnett.
New Faith And Life Tracks! Beginning January 6th
Have you ever wondered how the images and words you see on the screens appear? Join us for a 4 week course on the software program ProPresenter. In this course you will learn the essentials of how to use the program. With it you can create slides with images, song lyrics, Bible verses, run video clips, and so much more that can be used to enhance worship. If interested or you would like more information, please contact Janna Edwards. This class will meet in the Sanctuary.
Wednesday Night Bible Study
Wednesday night Bible study led by Neil Westbrook, this Bible study and reflections from various scriptures will meet each week through February 3rd. It will meet in the Fellowship Hall.
HammerTime with Ben
Do you like to work with your hands? Would you enjoy a tangible, hands-on way to give to Forest Hills? Ben Kaplan, our Facilities Director, will be leading HammerTime with Ben on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 p.m. through February 3. Change a light bulb, replace an electric receptacle, fix a door knob and more! Ben will have all materials and supplies needed for light repairs to help keep Forest Hills in tip-top shape. If interested, contact Ben Kaplan.
From Nineveh to Rome: Putting Jesus' Land in Context
The Judea that Jesus walked in, taught in, died and rose in was a key crossroad in the Roman Empire. This brief survey looks at the 700 years of historical changes between the fall of the Israelite kingdoms and Jesus' birth in order to help understand how his audience understood his teaching and his role. Learn why the Samaritans and Jews despised one another, who the Pharisees, Sadducees and Essenes were, and how the Romans came to govern Jerusalem. The books of Kings, Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezra, Esther, Daniel and some of the apocrypha will be used as well as other historical and archaeological sources. Taught by John Reece.
Would you like to learn to paint or create other art forms? Arty Party encourages participants to create original works of art in a fun environment! All levels of experience are welcome, and instruction is provided. Led by Jerry Hester, this class meets every Wednesday in the Shepherd Studio (Hood House) from 6:00-8:30 p.m.
Children In Action
Children in Action is a mission focused group for boys and girls in grades K-5. They meet every Wednesday night 1/6 - 3/9, from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Come join them as they study missionaries and ministry groups, make crafts, play games, and participate in mission projects and the Pinewood Derby. RA's/GA's will meet on the Children's Hall across from the Fellowship Hall.
Children's Essentials Baby Shower
Children's Essentials is having a baby shower! Each year Children's Essentials supports mothers in need of the most basic items for their children. You can help by picking up a baby bottle to fill with your spare change, or by donating needed items. To pick up your baby bottle or list of needed items, visit the displays in The Gathering Place and outside the fellowship hall or visit the website! The displays will be available on January 24, January 31, and February 7.
