There's A New Face At Forest Hills!

We are so excited to announce that we have filled our role for Director of Operations and Deveopment in hiring Jennifer Earp. She will start in August; please take a moment to read her bio and welcome her to the Forest Hills Family!
Jennifer is from California but calls North Carolina home. She is married to her husband Sam and has two children, son Joshua who is 17 and a daughter Hannah who is 9.  Shes's a member of First Baptist Church in Clayton which is where she's resided for the last 10 years.  Prior to that she lived in Raleigh and Fayetteville.
For the last ten years she has worked in the healthcare field where she worked with residents with Alzheimer's and other types of dementia.  This has allowed her to meet some wonderful people and left a special place in her heart.  She has traveled and trained folks on dementia training as well as spoken at many places on this subject.
Within her church she currently resides on the Enlistment Committee, has served as GA Director and Co-Director, member of WMU, and worship leader for both children's church and youth group.
She has a wonderful family which includes two Bulldogs named Harley and Tater, a mini Dachshund named Bella and a cat named Buttercup.

Story Time With Sue

This summer, preschoolers and parents are invited to the church for a story and activity time. Each week, Sue Farr (the team leader for our church library) will read a story in the Gathering Place. Then we'll have a craft or activity, and a light snack. Our organized activities will last 30 or 40 minutes, but you're welcome to hang out in the Gathering Place or the church playground as long as you like. Feel free to bring a friend and make it a play date! For more information, email andrew@foresthills.org.

Help Needed!

If you like big smiles, boundless excitement, and the opportunity to nurture the future generations of our church, we need you! We're looking for children's ministry Sunday School teachers for both preschool and grade school. There are opportunities to teach as an occasional substitute, for a few months at a time, or for one year; training is available. Please pray about whether God is calling you to minister to our children!

G-Force Vacation Bible School

At G-Force Vacation Bible School, we'll learn that "in God we live, move, and exist" (Acts 17:28)! Kids will explore how to put their faith into action, how to fuel up, and how to move in and through life with God. We'll host VBS during the Sunday School hour (9:30-10:45) from now-August 16. If you can help with VBS, either by chaperoning kids or leading a 20 minute lesson, please signup at foresthills.org/vbs.

Children's Choir

Children's Bus Tour: The children's musics program takes to the road again visiting members of the In Crowd and singing some songs. All are welcome......Bring a Friend!  Beginning August 13th at 3pm.

Youth Ministry

Children & Youth Block Party

All parents are encouraged to attend a Children & Youth Ministry Block Party on Sunday, August 30; we'll discuss our plans for the upcoming year and much more. Children's parents will meet from 5:00-6:00 (childcare provided), everyone will have dinner together from 6:00-7:00, and youth parents will meet from 7:00-8:00. Stay tuned for further details.

Lake Day

Lake Day is the Forest Hills Youth Group kick-off for the school year.  This event involves an entire day of boating, swimming and shore activities.  The day includes plenty of food and fellowship.  It is a great way to get to know or reconnect with the youth group after the summer months.  It is also a great time to invite a friend.  All new members of the FH Youth Group will be officially welcomed into our "family" with a fun heart-warming celebration. The youth will come back exhausted but smiling. We we begin this event at 7:30am on Saturday August 22nd, and return late Saturday evening.

Faith And Film

This summer our teenagers will be watching films and discussing how they might intersect with our faith. Movies are so impactful, and they catch our attention while speaking into our lives. This summer we aim to take a movie, ask good questions about what we might learn from it, and how it might speak to us as people of faith.   Dates are June 28th, July 12th, August 2nd, and August 16th from 5pm-8pm.

International Ministry

New Korean Bible Study

Wonderful news!  A Korean Bible Study has begun meeting at Forest Hills, sharing space for a 9 week discipleship study!  This study is led by Pastor Samuel Lee, a strong Christian man who has pastored churches for 25 years on the east and west coasts, and volunteers with the Baptist State Convention of NC.  He contacted Forest Hills after watching the TV broadcast of one of our worship services. Some weeks before, several Koreans in the community asked him to teach them about God.  Pastor Lee prayed, and led by the Lord, accepted; and the small study began meeting in a house.  It quickly outgrew the space, praise the Lord! Forest Hills responded in prayer, took action through the International Ministry and Share Council, and in love, shared space for this Bible study to flourish.  May God's will be done!  Please pray for Pastor Lee and our Korean neighbors seeking to know Christ through the study of 1st John.

General Announcements

Musical Keyboard Evangelism

Musical Keyboard Evangelism (MKE) at Forest Hills will begin Wednesday, September 2nd! MKE is a form of evangelism where free piano lessons are offered to people in our community. MKE students will learn to play and will present a recital following the session of classes, while also being introduced to the Gospel.
Help is needed to make this mission successful. First and most importantly, prayer is needed. If all you can do is pray, we'd love to have you praying for this ministry!
Also, since many of our students will be underage, we're in need of additional volunteers to sit in the room with teachers during practice sessions in compliance with church safety policies. If enough people can volunteer for this need, we'd only need volunteers to sit in once or twice a month.
Classes are open to all ages 8 and up (including adults). Please pray about how you can help with this important ministry that will be used to spread the Gospel to our friends in the community. We can only accomplish this with your help! To volunteer to be a prayer warrior for this ministry or to find out more about volunteering by sitting in on lessons, please contact Nannette Godwin at nannette.godwin@gmail.com.
