Dr. Mark White, Senior Pastor
I met my wife Victoria during my first year in seminary. We married in 2001, and together, we have two children, Ava and Owen. I could not have dreamed of ever having a more wonderful family! Victoria works for Leadership Education at Duke Divinity School, and she enjoys scrapbooking, canning, and reading. Ava just completed sixth grade, and she loves playing soccer, running, and reading. Owen is a rising third grader. He enjoys fishing, basketball, nerf guns, video games, and music. I also enjoy running, fishing, reading, traveling, and watching the Tar Heels play basketball. Some of our favorite activities as a family include swimming, playing outdoor games, and going to the beach.
My call to ministry began during my college years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. I worked in business for a year before committing to a life of ministry. From that point forward, I threw myself completely into ministry and began formal seminary training. In fact, I love education. I hold two master’s degrees. I received a Master of Divinity degree from the Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond. I also received a Master of Theology degree from Duke University and have a Doctor of Ministry degree from Colombia Theological Seminary.
I also have a passion for the local church. Over the last fifteen years, I have served in three congregations in Virginia, two of which have been in a college setting. I enjoy shepherding people in the faith, encouraging them to live out the teachings of Jesus at home and around the world. Building relationships and engaging people of different cultures and nationalities through missions and education are important to me. I have participated in mission trips to nine countries and a number of states within our own country.
I believe exciting days are ahead for all of us as we journey with the Lord.
