About Communion
At Forest Hills, all are welcome at the communion table. Communion is a special time during worship when we gather together to remember the life, love, and teachings of Jesus and the ways God continues to invite us into community with one another.
As a family, we encourage you to have conversations together about whether or not your child would like to participate in communion. We trust families to make the decision that feels most meaningful and appropriate for their child.
Communion is not a reward for having everything figured out or for being a certain age. Instead, it is a shared practice of remembrance, grace, belonging, and community.
We typically celebrate communion through intinction. During intinction, worshipers receive a piece of bread and dip the bread into the cup before eating it.
Children are welcome to come forward with their families during communion, whether they choose to participate, receive a blessing, or simply observe. We believe questions, curiosity, and learning are all meaningful parts of faith and worship.
